Angelina Jolie had 'breakdown' making 'In the Land of Blood and Honey'

Angelina Jolie says that she had "complete meltdown" while shooting her directorial debut, "In the Land of Blood and Honey," a love story set during the Bosnian War.

In an online chat airing on the website LiveStream.com, Jolie fielded questions about the movie, which recently received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Foreign Language Film, along with Vanessa Glodjo, a Sarajevan actress who co-stars in it. During the question and answer session, Jolie reveals that she felt an emotional surge while making the movie, which explores the theme of violence during war.
"I had a complete emotional breakdown in the shower," says Jolie of one of her lowest moments. "Brad [Pitt] found me just crying. I suddenly felt the responsibility and I felt very small and, who am I to take this on? And think that I could make a difference? What have I done? ... I had a complete meltdown."

When asked why it was important for her to tell a story about the Bosnian War, Jolie replied, "How could it not be?"

She continued, "It is a war that happened in our generation, to our generation. Vanessa herself was trapped inside the siege for almost four years. There were rape camps and concentration camps. It was such a horrible time in our history and it was relatively ignored by the international community. It's something we should all revisit so we make sure it does not happen again."

Later, Jolie shared where she was during the war, which took place from 1992 to 1995.

"I knew very little, like most Americans," she said. "I was 17 so I was not very focused. ... I was my own form of self-destructive, and it was a bad time."

Jolie recently talked more about her "heavy, darker times" in an interview with "20/20" in November, saying that she felt "lucky" to be alive after her wild teenage and 20-something years. Jolie has confessed to experimenting with drugs, and has talked about suffering bouts of depression, during which she would contemplate suicide and cut herself.

But a lighter moment in last night's online chat came when Jolie's oldest son, Maddox Jolie-Pitt, wrote his mom with a question.

"Maddox, hi honey," said Jolie beaming, before reading his question out loud. "What is your favorite scene in the movie?

Jolie answers, "My favorite scene in the movie is when the sisters are reunited. It's one of the few happier moments."

Angelina Jolie to appear in live Q&A session for 'In The Land of Blood and Honey'

Angelina Jolie is opening up to fans in a live Q&A session for her directorial debut "In The Land of Blood and Honey," set to take place on January 12 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT. The session, which is interactive, can be seen below.

The film was released in select cities in the United States on December 23 and will be released in several other cities like Dallas, Charlotte, Phoenix and Denver on January 13."In The Land of Blood and Honey" depicts a romance between a Bosnian woman and Serbian man during the Bosnia war in the 1990s. It stars actors Zana Marjanovic and Goran Kostic. Jolie does not appear in the film.

The movie is nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film. The 2012 ceremony takes place on January 15.

Jolie, who is known for her global humanitarian efforts as a UN Goodwill Ambassador, also wrote the film's screenplay and says she took on the project because she was personally interested in the subject matter.

When asked if she planned on directing more projects, the actress told OnTheRedCarpet.com host Chris Balish and other reporters at the 2012 Palm Springs International Film Festival on January 7 that she is open to the idea.

"I'm still so shy to even consider myself a writer-director," Jolie said. "But I think I'm so driven by something I care about it. So it'd have to be that - if something comes my way and I'd just feel so compelled to tell it, then I think I just might jump in, but I'm still shy."

The actress, who won an Oscar for her role as a mental patient in the 1999 movie "Girl, Interrupted," served as the film's director and will take questions from fans during the interactive session.

'Kung Fu Panda' Co-Stars Jack Black And Angelina Jolie Ponder Their Inevitable Live-Action Team-Up

It feels somewhat off to call "Kung Fu Panda 2's" Jack Black and Angelina Jolie co-stars. Their animated characters Po and Tigress spend on-screen time together, but Black and Jolie solely worked off-screen, lending their voices to the upcoming sequel of their wildly successful 2008 flick.

But that doesn't mean moviegoers may never get to see them on film together someday. MTV News caught up with the stars at the Cannes Film Festival's "Kung Fu Panda 2" premiere, and they discussed the possibility of working together on a live-action movie at some point down the line.

"We haven't really talked about it, even in a joking way," Black admitted, "We haven't talked [about] it in any type of way." But things soon got rolling when Jolie chimed in about the idea of working with Black again in a different capacity: "I would love to."

"Well, that benefits me, let's talk about this," the funny man said, who then looked over at Jolie and pondered, "What project could we do together?" It didn't take long for Black to get inspired for an idea for he and the beautiful Oscar-winner as he recalled the 1955 comedy "Artists & Models."

Black explained, "Jerry Lewis did a really funny movie with Shirley MacLaine and she was a hot number and he was just a clown and I thought, 'That could work for us, too.' 'Hot Number and the Clown,' that's the title!"

It shouldn't take long for studios to come calling for "Hot Number and the Clown," or any other Black-Jolie movie for that matter, as it's already Jolie-approved. After Black came up with his idea for their next feature together, the stunning actress told MTV: "Sounds good... I'd love to do something with Jack."

It's been reported today that Tim Burton has dropped out of Disney's Maleficent, which is kind of a huge bummer, because if Burton's doing something scary/sexy/weird, you know it's going to be good. Actually, I retract that statement. I was thinking of Burton's Beetlejuice era, not the most recent Alice in Wonderland.

Burton's currently working with Depp (obvi) on Dark Shadows. And he's also rebooting the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Essientially Maleficent is Wicked, just without the Rachel Berry wannabes singing "Gravity" at every chance they get. This isn't a bad thing, if Hollywood's gonna be all into the rebooting of things these days they might as well do something with a twist.

David Yates is rumored to be one of the directors that Disney is looking at to fill the Burton void. Yates has done the last four Harry Potter movies (read: the best Harry Potter movies), so this is still a postive story for the film.

Oh, and did I mention that Angelina Jolie is rumored to be the film's title character? I almost forgot. Mostly because it's Angelina Jolie and she hasn't been any fun in a good long while. Motherhood ruins everything.Although I could give less of a poop about Angelina, I won't deny that this casting rumor is pretty phenominal.

She spent several hours with wounded soldiers and gave each one a gift bag which included, among other things, a $1000 gift certificate to Best Buy.Angelina Jolie on the other hand went to Ramstein Air Force base in Germany four days ago to visit wounded soldiers, but there were no paparazzi pictures and it wasn’t in the press, because she didn’t tell anyone she was doing it. Angelina Jolie‘s a funny one. She’s a good actress and a giant movie star, but at least for this writer, she’s barely made any good movies. Michael Winterbottom‘s “A Mighty Heart,” which features the actress’ best performance, is great (and underrated), and “Girl, Interrupted,” “Changeling” and “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” all have their defenders, but personally we can’t find much to like in any of them. But, if the actress gets her way, there’s one project on her dance card which certainly has our attention.

The actress is attached to star as the legendary Egyptian queen in “Cleopatra” for “The Social Network” producer Scott Rudin, and the two have been making their way through Hollywood’s A-list directors to find the right man to helm it, with both James Cameron and Paul Greengrass flirting with the film before ultimately turning it down. MTV caught up with Jolie at Cannes, where she’s currently promoting “Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom,” and the actress confirmed that she’s got another big name in her sights, one that’s already been connected with the film. David Fincher, who worked with Rudin on both “The Social Network” and the upcoming “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” was reported to have been approached for the project a few months back, and when MTV asks about that, Jolie confirms that there have been talks, although “It’s all very early. Fincher’s been an old friend, so we’ve always been looking for something to do.” The director, of course, worked with Jolie’s partner, Brad Pitt, on “Se7en,” “Fight Club” and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”

Fincher’s theoretically meant to go on and make “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” once he wraps up “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” but we certainly would rather that he’d take on Brian Helgeland‘s Egyptian script than the undersea adventure. The fact that talks still seem to be going on is certainly a good sign, but we imagine that Fincher may not want to commit until later in the year. But if Disney can land a new director for “Maleficent,” which Jolie is attached to star in, after Tim Burton left the project yesterday, then that may become the actress’ priority. Although we hope not.

Jolie also confirms that she’s producing “Churchill and Roosevelt,” which Anthony Hopkins revealed a few weeks ago that Jolie had approached him about, although it seems that reports that she’d make it her second directorial effort after Bosnian drama “In The Land of Blood and Honey” are exaggerated. She says right now that “I just want to see it get done,” and also reports that no one is currently attached as Roosevelt. “Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom,” meanwhile, lands on May 27th.

Kung Fu Panda 2 resonates in particular because it has an adoption theme. And of course, three of the six Jolie-Pitt children – Maddox, Pax and Zahara – are adopted.

"The words adoption, birth mothers [and] orphanages are happy words in our household, and we talk about those subjects all the time," Jolie, 35, said Thursday at the Cannes Film Festival, where her movie is premiering.

The Oscar winner voices Tigress in the Panda films. "I'm especially excited to be in this movie because of my daughters," she said. "She's one of the best characters I've ever played. My kids love it, and in many ways I did it for them." Jolie, who wore a belted, beige Ferragamo dress with jewels from her own line with Robert Procop, said her partner Brad Pitt and the family are all with her at the festival. "The kids are back at the hotel, running around, having a great time and probably causing a mess," she said. "They love it here."

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are being sued for £75,000 by a secretary at their French chateau who claims she was sacked for 'absenteeism' while on sick leave.

The woman worked as a bilingual secretary at the Hollywood couple's sprawling 25 million pounds estate in the heart of the southern Provence countryside.

The former employee's lawyer Emmanuel Ludot said he had deliberately chosen to publicise the matter while Pitt and Jolie were in France for the Cannes Film Festival.

The woman was fired by another manager at the chateau on the grounds her absence was detrimental to the smooth-running of the property, Mr Ludot said.

He added: "This amount is a drop in the ocean for these stars.

"She has nothing against them personally and says she was always treated well. But they did not step in to prevent her being dismissed. "Mr Brad Pitt, who is also famous for his charity work and adoption of children, should understand that my client needs compensation as soon as possible, and that she's not asking for millions, just a fair amount for unfair dismissal.

"We hope they will both be faithful to their reputation for humanitarian causes."

His client needed to remain anonymous in line with the 'draconian' confidentiality clauses that she had to sign before being employed by the film stars.

The couple bought the Chateau Miraval, near the village of Brignolles, for 35 million dollars in 2008.

The 35-bedroom residence has a private vineyard, moat and lake, and it is surrounded by a huge forest to give complete privacy to the couple and their children Maddox, nine, Pax, seven, Zahara, six and Shiloh, four, and two-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

It also has a fully equipped gym, sauna and health spa, a helicopter landing pad and Brad is said to considering building his own motorcycle track at a cost of hundreds of thousands of pounds.

An industrial tribunal in the town of Draguignan, southern France, would issue its verdict on the case in June, Mr Ludot said.

So it’s only okay for a woman to be aggressive if she’s beautiful? Yes, but here’s the shocking part, it’s other women that prefer the heroine to be a hottie, according to a recent study. The researchers found that women surveyed thought pretty, aggressive women were good role models for today’s youth, but unattractive aggressive women — not so much.

The study compared the work of Angelina Jolie and Kathy Bates. (For the record, if Kathy Bates happens to read this, we think you are beautiful, too). The researchers coded Jolie as the attractive heroine and Bates as the unattractive heroine. More than 100 volunteers filled out questionnaires about their status as role models after viewing scenes of the two actresses in aggressive and non-aggressive roles.
Jolie was seen as a good role model when she was both looking feminine and aggressive, which is considered more of a male trait. When Bates displayed aggressive behavior in movies, however, she was not seen as a good role model. And the passive heroine, whether she was attractive or not, did not garner a lot of support as a role model. So it seems a good female role model can act like a man, as long as she’s stereotypically pretty.

Of course past studies have shown that being attractive is helpful, be it in getting a job or landing a well-off partner. Now, it could be argued that we also like our leading men to be buff hotties with incredible jaw structures while they’re saving the world from Armageddon.

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, then why are we all holding onto the same generic image of Superman and Superwoman?

Angelina Jolie visits Afghanistan, says UNHCR

7 March, 2011 - Actress Angelina Jolie, the mother of six and a ‘woman for Brad’ as she once referred herself to in a television interview, made a surprise visit to Afghanistan. The two-day visit of Brad Pitt's long-time partner is part of her role as United Nations High Commissions for Refugees (UNHCR) goodwill ambassador.
According to the Agence France Presse, Jolie stayed to meet with hundreds of refugees for two days. The actress then capped her visit by calling on to the international community for more actions reintegrating former exiles into the Afghan society.

"The focus needs to be put now on reintegration and that means not just putting up shelter but making sure there is water, job opportunities, a school for the children and medical clinics," Jolie was quoted by the AFP as saying in a statement released by the UN agency.

Citing the UNHCR, the AFP said that millions of Afghans have returned to the country in the last ten years. An estimated 5.5 million people are reportedly back to the war-torn country since the Taliban was overpowered by the US-led invasion in 2002.

The war in 2002 had killed hundreds of Afghans and displaced millions of others who sought refuge in Iran and Pakistan. But with their arrival after almost a decade, the population of Afghanistan has shown an increase by 20-percent.

Johnny Depp has praised his fellow superstar Angelina Jolie's "shockingly great" parenting skills, saying he would "probably be in prison" if he had to cope with as much as her.

The Tourist actor admitted his co-star - who raises six children with partner Brad Pitt - does a fantastic job of juggling her mothering duties with her career,

and thinks he would "probably be in prison" if he had so much to deal with, reported Contactmusic.

"She is such a versatile, wonderful person who can portray anything. She is a down to earth, clever, funny, woman and shockingly great mother. She is very calm even if she's surrounded by paparazzi. I don't know what I would do. I could've been in prison by now!"

The 47-year-old star - who has been in a relationship with French actress-and-singer Vanessa Paradis since 1998 - also joked that he "can't remember" the intimate scenes he shot with Jolie in The Tourist.

"I didn't tell my family that I was shooting the film. I can't remember, I wasn't in it, I didn't take the role and this film doesn't exist. Angelina who? I can't remember her name, so I'm clean," said Depp.

In the USA the rise of inter-country adoption to around 20,000 kids a year comes as 130,000 American children are languishing in foster homes, presumably longing for a permanent family.

So why do Americans like the Jolie-Pitts prefer to adopts kids from overseas rather than take care of orphaned or abandoned kids from their own country?

Adopting American kids is cheaper and takes much less time, but overseas adoption is far more fashionable, it seems.

American researchers Yuanting Zhang and Gary Lee explored the reasons why in a recent paper in the Journal of Family Issues.

And their conclusions might surprise you.

Zhang and Lee found there are some practical reasons -- if you adopt from overseas you are more likely to get a baby under one year old, and you’re also more likely to be able to get a girl. Apparently, baby girls are the most in demand by adoptive parents.

But there’s a racial element too.

They found that many white families do not want to adopt African -- American children, as they blame blacks for creating their own social problems, from welfare cheats to giving birth to drug-affected babies.

The study found that parents didn’t mind cultural differences, but racial differences were much more of a barrier.

Adoptive parents also fear that black American parents might want their children back down the track, whereas this is much less likely with overseas adoption.

Martin Luther King may have “had a dream” in the 1960s about American whites and blacks living together in harmony. But when it comes to adoption, the racial divide appears to be stronger than ever.

Sure, the Jolie-Pitts have adopted black children, but it makes a difference that they have been rescued from an African orphanage rather than taken from crack-addicted African-American parents in the Bronx.

The insurer said Ms. Jolie's decision to do her own stunts earned her movie the dubious honor, since an injury to a star can force a halt in production and cost $250,000 a day or more. In the film from Sony Pictures, a unit of Japan's Sony Corp., Ms. Jolie plays a CIA agent who goes on the run after she's accused of being a Russian spy. In her effort to evade capture, her character hurls explosives, jumps off a bridge and rides a motorcycle through stalled freeway traffic.

"It's kind of cool for somebody to say they're doing their own stunts, but it is risky," said Lauren Bailey, vice president of entertainment at Fireman's Fund.

Before it will insure a production, the insurer will discuss stunts and other potentially risky aspects of the filming with the film-makers, and could request that the producers change their plans to reduce the odds of an accident. A Fireman's Fund representative is often on the set on the days when the riskiest stunts are scheduled to be filmed.

"When the artist is going to be involved in their own stunts, it's considered risky for us as the insurance carrier," said Wendy Diaz, the director of entertainment underwriting at Fireman's Fund. "But it's also somewhat risky for the production company, because they've put the production in a little bit of jeopardy if somebody gets hurt."

Fireman's Fund, a unit of Munich-based Allianz SE, requires actors to get a physical exam before they underwrite a production, and the information from the doctor can affect the price of coverage. And Ms. Bailey admitted that tabloid coverage of celebrities' personal activities does sometimes catch the insurer's eye.

"You have to be able to ferret out if it's true or not," she said. "But we do read them."

Past winners of the Fireman's Fund award include "Into the Wild," the Sean Penn-directed production that filmed in rugged locations and included several scenes with bears, and "The Wrestler," which depicted Mickey Rourke intentionally hurting himself with barbed wire.

Mr. Rourke, at least, earned an Oscar nomination for his suffering. Ms. Jolie, a past Oscar winner, didn't get another nomination for her role in "Salt."

"I don't want some people to use it (corruption) as an excuse not to give assistance," Jolie told reporters at the UN refugee agency's Islamabad office.

"I have seen what they have done in the field. I've physically seen people assisted, so if you are nervous about giving money directly in one way there are other ways to do it," she said.There have been allegations that aid funds have been mishandled since the start of the floods crisis six weeks ago, and despite massive relief efforts by the UN, United States and other donors, the UN has spoken of Pakistan's "image deficit" affecting donations.

The UN refugee agency (UNHCR) said its own appeal is only half-funded, and Elisabeth Byrs, spokeswoman at the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, said extra monies were "still stagnating".

Some leaders have refused to disclose their contribution to the relief effort and claimed that their donation had gone directly to their party's fund.

Dawn reported Wednesday that Jolie has contributed $100,000 while Zardari and Altaf Hussain, chief of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, claimed to have donated Rs.5 million each.
Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and top leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q, Awami National Party and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F have not made donations in cash; instead, they donated in kind.

"The prime minister has already said that he does not believe in cash contribution and thus he did not deposit money in the fund, but his son in Multan dispatched many trucks of goods on behalf of the family," Dawn quoted the prime minister's press secretary Shabir Anwar as saying.

The floods started July 28 with heavy monsoon rains and went on to submerge thousands of villages, wash away hundreds of kilometres of roads, dozens of bridges and over 1.7 million acres of crops.

The country's worst natural disaster has killed over 1,600 people and affected about 20 million nationwide, with the threat of disease ever-present in the camps sheltering survivors.

Presidential spokesperson Farhatullah Babar said: "During his recent visit to the UK, President Zardari announced Rs.2.5 million in donation and after his return he contributed another Rs.2.5 million to the prime minister's flood relief fund."

He added that Zardari's children - Bilawal Zardari-Bhutto, Bakhtawar Zardari and Asifa Zardari - had set up a fund in Britain to collect donation from overseas Pakistanis and others.

Pakistan Muslim League-N chief Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and their family have reportedly handed over goods worth Rs.25 million. But there was no contribution in cash.

"Sharif family has sent relief goods amounting to Rs.25 million to flood-hit areas," said PML-N spokesperson Siddiqul Farooq.

He criticised President Zardari for contributing just Rs.5 million.

Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan of the PML-N, has told his party members to donate to the Punjab chief minister's relief fund instead of the prime minister's fund.

Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan's monetary help stood at Rs.500,000.

"Khan donated Rs.500,000 from his own pocket. He and the party are actively participating in fund-raising campaigns," PTI's spokesperson Tahir Jamil said, and added that Khan would take 300 trucks carrying relief goods to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sunday.

The contribution of PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and his family was Rs.25 million in kind.

"Relief goods have been dispatched to Multan, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur and other parts of Punjab," said Mustafa Malik, PML-Q's deputy information secretary.

Director Philip Noyce never expected Angelina Jolie to tackle the highly dangerous stunts in Salt herself. Not unreasonably, he assumed that his $20 million star would say ‘thanks, but no thanks..’ and sit them out in her trailer.

Noyce, a laconic 60 year old Australian who first worked with Jolie 10 years ago in the serial killer thriller The Bone Collector, assumed that the intricate, hazardous set pieces in his $130 million film would require a stunt double with nerves of steel and the extensive use of CGI.

You can see why. Salt’s action sequences include a spectacular scene where she edges out on to the windowsill of a Manhattan apartment building, 11 stories up and 90 feet above the ground.

Another sees her character plunging bungee style out of a Black Hawk helicopter hovering 60 feet above the ground. And one of the most dramatic episodes features a motorway car chase where Evelyn Salt is desperately trying to escape from her pursuers, including jumping 30 foot from a motorway bridge on to the roof of a truck and then leaping from there on to another.

'At first I thought, the insurance company is never going to allow this so we’ll be dong it with CGI,' says Noyce. 'But then Angie comes up to the top of the building during pre-production and looks down – and it was a long, long way up - and says, "No, I’ll do it, I’ll go out there..." I couldn’t believe it.'

Noyce admits that it was nerve-wracking watching Jolie at work. Salt is the second collaboration for Noyce and Jolie. The Australian director first directed her in The Bone Collector in 1999

'Terrible thoughts go through your head because I have been there when accidents have occurred and near misses have occurred, ' he said.

The director made Clear and Present Danger with Harrison Ford, another actor who likes to do as much of his own stunt work as possible. It very nearly cost him his life.

In one scene, he says, Ford ignored his advice and insisted on driving a car that, in the story, come under attack from a rocket launcher. He dives out of the car as the rocket hits a shop nearby and explodes.


'I said, "You don’t have to do it," but he wanted to,' he recalls. 'And so our experts set a small explosion – and in those days we used real explosives – to blow up the shop front as he went by. 'When we looked at the tape afterwards we saw that this huge chunk of wood from the shop went right by him – six inches to the right and it would have decapitated him.'

Jolie, he stresses, is safety conscious and plans each stunt with meticulous detail with her trusted team – stunt co-ordinator Simon Crane, 50, and her stunt double Eunice Huthart, 43, a former winner of TV’s Gladiators. Both are Brits and have worked on several movies with Jolie including Tomb Raider, Mr and Mrs. Smith and Wanted.

'Angelina has had a lot of experience with action films, she has matured in the way she approaches stunts and action and by matured I mean she has become more foolhardy in a sense, less fearing,' says Noyce.

Writer Kurt Wimmer has ideas for how to advance the story of the spy thriller, in which Evelyn Salt is a Russian plant in the highest echelons of the CIA who may or may not be working for her home country.

Director Phillip Noyce, for his part, is said to be interested in returning for a new installment. Scheduling and preferences would need to be worked out, however: Though the filmmaker doesn't officially have a new movie, he is involved with several high-priority development projects.

They include "Wenceslas Square," the indie thriller that was set to shoot in Serbia as early as this summer but has gotten hung up on casting issues as producers seek a big-name star. Noyce is also interested in directing Russell Crowe in the Australian love story "Dirt Music," which has long been a passion project for the director, though without financing yet, no one's moving on that one. And there's another romance film in the offing that would reunite Noyce with "Salt" producer Sunil Perkash.Angelina Jolie had said that she's keen to work on a sequel; she has the Tim Burton film "Maleficent" and the big-franchise dreams of Kay Scarpetta waiting in the wings, but no commitment to a new movie now that she's finished Spyglass spy movie "The Tourist."

"Salt" producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and, in particular, Sony remain a question, however. The line the studio has put out to insiders in Hollywood is that the the company wants to see how the film performs in key international territories -- over the coming weeks it opens in the U.K., Germany and numerous South American countries -- before deciding whether to move forward. The movie has performed reasonably well in the U.S., earning $96 million thus far, but the production cost $110 million, with marketing costs running along the usual lines for a star-driven action picture. And sequels tend to get pricier.

"I am deeply troubled by the complete and utter disregard for human life in Somalia," said Jolie, a goodwill ambassador for the Geneva-based UN refugee agency (UNHCR).


	Noting that civilians - particularly in the capital Mogadishu - were facing increasing threats, Jolie called for fighters to stop waging wars in residential areas. Life is far from perfect for Angelina Jolie, a new tell-all book claims.

"Brangelina Exposed," a new book by author Ian Halperin, will supposedly explain how Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie "have successfully manipulated the public into believing a glamorous fairytale that bears little resemblance to the reality of the pair's life together," reports Us magazine.

According to a press release about the book, Halperin starts at the very beginning with the "real reason" for Pitt's split from actress Jennifer Aniston.

After that, the writer gets to the juicy parts.

The book is supposed to report "new details" of Jolie's "volatile relationship with and estrangement from her father Jon Voight," plus the actress' already well-documented struggles with suicidal thoughts, heroin use and sexual exploits.

Halperin's book also promises to fill readers in on the key behind-the-scenes people who helped Jolie become the Oscar-award winning actress and United Nations Goodwill Ambassador that we know today.

But perhaps the most explosive part of the book deals with the private life Jolie and Pitt share.

The book claims that Jolie's "lifestyle choices" are hurting her family in more ways than one—causing "serious and potentially irreparable tensions with Pitt."

This announcement comes just a day after the news that Jolie had sex with her mother's boyfriend when she was only 16-years-old, according to yet another tell-all book about the actress' life.

That book, written by Andrew Morton, is expected to be released sometime this winter as an unauthorized biography about Jolie's life.

Halperin is an investigative journalist and former writer for "Rolling Stone" magazine who most recently penned "Unmasked: The Final Years of Michael Jackson, which became a bestseller last July.

Denver: Hollywood actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's baby girl, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, has made what may be her first fashion statement.

The baby appeared on the cover of People Magazine in a $42 T-shirt sold by a Denver boutique, triggering a literal tidal wave of orders.

Belly, a shop in Denver's Tony Cherry Creek district, had sent Jolie one of the T-shirts and some maternity clothes in January.

However, it wasn't immediately clear whether the T-shirt in the cover photo was the one sent by Belly.

"Everyone's claiming that they are responsible for sending them the 'gift package' because they want publicity," the T-shirt's designer, Kingsley Aarons, told newspaper USA Today.

"Obviously, if she wore something of ours, that would be awesome," Belly employee, Janci Clawson told the Rocky Mountain News in Tuesday's editions.

"But it was more of a 'thank you' to Angelina for doing so much for women and children around the world," she added.

Belly co-owner Janci Frisby said she has also sent clothes to actresses including Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Garner and singer Gwen Stefani but got no response.

The shirt worn by Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt says "The Pots & Pans Band" in Gothic letters and features a skull and crossbones, an eagle and some pots and pans.

After People hit news stands last week, Belly was deluged with telephone and Internet orders for the shirt, and quickly sold out.

The combination of horror movies and 3D is like the pairing of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt: individually they are fine, productive, nice to look at and usually offer some kind of entertainment value. Together and, holy plop, the duo are whispered about, followed obsessively by an odd following and can even be sometimes annoying; just like the latest chapter from New Line’s monstrously successful line of Final Destination films, the aptly named, The Final Destination.

More like a series of vignettes strung loosely together with an increasingly stale plot, The Final Destination isn’t what you would call, a “good movie.” Instead, it’s an amusement ride. The movie acts like a Universal Theme Park run amok, or worse, one of those over-priced moving movie rides seen in malls and theme parks. You know the ones. The $10 a pop “rides” that strap you in the seat with a flickering roller coaster playing on the screen while the little trailer moves and bumps according to the coaster’s actions. The anticipation easily outweighs the actual movie and patrons are ravaged for $10.

Viewers familiar with the franchise know the drill. A bunch of stellar-looking twenty-somethings narrowly escape death through one kid having a case of clairvoyance. Fate, being the wacky sonofabitch we know Fate to be, is on the hunt to kill off the kids while they look for any way to stop it. Along the way, ludicrous situations arrive to brutally kill each stereotype in an overly elaborate and somewhat hilarious fashion.

In fact, when pregnant, you only need an additional 100-300 calories a day. That equals the equivalent of an apple, a handful of crackers, or 1 cup of cottage cheese. That does not equal the equivalent of a cheeseburger and fries in the middle of the day after you have had a healthy lunch. If you are considered “overweight” than you should only gain 15-25 pounds. DC was buzzing this afternoon after photographs of Angelina Jolie downtown (and Brad Pitt, hanging out with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi) were posted on the internet today.

I spied the images this morning on Jezebel and fired off an e-mail to my sister because I had first thought, "Angelina Jolie rides Metro! And dresses just like you!" ...I then realize she was walking past an escalator. And is in town for Salt.

DCist and Metro's Facebook page made an announcement too.

Does anyone know if she rides Metro in the film? Despite the myriad of movies misrepresenting the image of DC (for one there aren't nearly as many extraterrestrial invasions of explosions) I'd like to see her blend in with the commuters on screen.

Aniston and Jolie are still at war through press interviews, four years after Brad Pitt ended his marriage to the Friends actress and fell for Jolie.

Reynolds admits that the rivalry reminds her of her own conflict when her first husband Eddie Fisher left her for close pal Elizabeth Taylor in 1959. But both of them have overcome the rivalry to form a firm friendship - and Reynolds insists Aniston and Jolie can too.

"(The split with Fisher) reminds me of what happened with Jennifer Aniston, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Except we were a generation earlier," Contactmusic quoted Reynolds as saying. She also urges the pair to become friends - insisting there was nothing Aniston could do to keep Pitt from leaving.

Angelina Jolie's Mrs. Smith purrs, crouched as she is on the bullet-riddled stairs of her home, each hand gripping a machine gun, which turn out to be the perfect accessories for the backless black cocktail dress and stilettos as she takes in the news that her spouse is also an assassin and she's his next target. Brad Pitt's Mr. Smith feigns a moan in reply as he aims in her direction. Bang, bang. It's to die for.
